Brain and Body in Sport and Exercise: Biofeedback Applications in Performance Enhancement by Boris Blumenstein, With the remarkable technical advances of recent years, the use of highly technical means of sport psychology has gained momentum. Biofeedback (BFB) typifies one of the most important perspective methods of training athletes for better self-control and relaxation. This book aims to show how BFB techniques can be used with these new devices to provide optimum performance.

Russell Brain, 1st Baron Brain - Dr Walter Russell Brain, 1st Baron Brain (October 23 1895–December 29 1966) was a United Kingdom neurologist. He was principal author of the standard work of neurology, "Brain's Diseases of the Nervous System", and longtime editor of the neurological medical journal titled Brain. Brain implant - The term brain implants, also known as neural implants, usually refers to devices of a technological nature that are connected directly to a biological subject's brain - usually placed on the surface of the brain, or attached to the brain's cortex. A common purpose of modern brain implants and the focus of much current research is establishing a biomedical prosthesis circumventing areas in the brain, which became dysfunctional after a stroke or other head injuries. Neurofeedback - Neurofeedback (NFB), also called neurotherapy, neurobiofeedback or EEG biofeedback, enables an individual to train brainwave activity, as measured by electrodes on the scalp, via feedback of EEG information in the form of a video display, sound or vibration. If brain activity changes in the direction desired by the therapist, a positive "reward" feedback is given to the individual, and if it regresses, either a negative feedback or no feedback is given (depending on the protocol). Biofeedback - Biofeedback is a form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) which involves measuring bodily processes such as blood pressure, heart rate, skin temperature, galvanic skin response (sweating), and muscle tension in order to raise a subject's awareness and conscious control of these functions. Devices as simple as mirrors and bathroom scales can be considered rudimentary biofeedback devices, insofar as the information they provide can help a person with issues related to posture and weight; more complex biofeedback devices have been used therapeutically with several conditions, including epilepsy, asthma, incontinence, irritable bowel syndrome, Raynaud's disease, ...
